Workshops.

To coincide with Women's History Month, I've been running a series of print workshops at The October Gallery for primary school children. It was my first experience of doing anything like this and although I found it daunting I really enjoyed doing it and learnt a lot in the process. I devised a two hour workshop that involved the children exploring the current exhibition by Laila Shawa and then creating their own visual response to the show's themes and ideas, using collage and simple screen printing methods. They made some really beautiful work!

As a close to the month, the gallery will be holding a symposium this weekend with guest speakers including Zawe Ashton, Benjamin Zephaniah and Darter Collective. More information here.

Illustration Sale.

Last Thursday we held an Illustration Sale at school to raise money for our Work In Progress Show in March. I created some 'Souvenir' themed screen prints with Caspar which you can see in the bottom photo. They were a follow on from the work we created for the CSM Pop Up Shop last summer which you can see here. For this sale we also made cards, gift tags and Hawaiian badges!

Collectively we made over £400 and will be holding another sale at the end of the month!

Private View.

Some pictures from Thursday night! It was too busy to take any decent photos of the work so we'll be heading over next week to do it properly.

This is the A1 piece we made for the back wall.

Division.

Over the last few weeks I've been working with Tristram Mason on a brief set by the Belgian Tourist Board to commemorate WW1. We were looking at 'division' as a theme and the many aspects of the war that were affected by this. We created layered screen prints from our own photography and these a a few of the test images we created.
The final pieces of work are on show at the Oxo Tower Gallery until November 20th as part of 'The First and the Last' exhibition.
